Often times, a lot of teenagers get bored during lunch breaks because they have nothing to talk about but only those things that happen in school. They often get tired of doing the same routine everyday and wanted something that could spice up their afternoon. These teens are growing up and they need some sort of excitement to keep their energy rising to meet up the deadlines in school but having such boring routine would definitely mess up their afternoon subjects and will find them sleepy on their classes.

Teenagers must engage in activities that would allow them to express themselves freely without being judged by other people especially friends. They need to have an outlet even just for an hour or two for it would definitely make a great impact on teenager’s life. Self expression is definitely important for teens of all ages because they have so much in mind and in their heart but are just afraid to let it out.

Never run out of things to talk about with your Idea box. All you have to do is fill a box with just about any topic you want to discuss with your friends which includes boys, fashion, and food and just about anything under the sun. Then during break time, pick a topic from your idea box and talk the time away.

Have fun creating your idea box too. You can use a shoebox, an old can or even a cute plastic container. Design it with your names, favorite stickers or pictures of your crushes you can’t get enough of. It’s also great to crank up the box with notes and letters for friends in order for them to be aware of how you feel. It’s more of a communication box that would drive your friends closer to you. Do not be afraid to show how you feel and what you wanted to happen.

It’s really fun to share these memories with your friends because when as you grow up, you’ll be able to realize how colorful life is being a teenager especially when you have your friends around you.

Posted on : 18-Dec-2009 | By : admin | In : Crafts

Paper Mache is a French word for mashed paper or chewed paper. It has always been a favorite for hobbyists or for simply making money. Paper Mache is fun to do especially when you can allot enough time for it, you can be able to express your creativity. Creating bowls, lamps and decorative elements for your room are some of the few things you can craft with Paper Mache. The materials needed for the craft needs not to be expensive and pricey, you can make use of your old newspapers, shredded or even scratch papers. The attractiveness of the art will totally depend on your workmanship and creativity.

In this project, we will together make a pen holder. It can actually help to remove the clutters on your desk and achieve a more organized desktop.

You will need the following:

Old newspapers
Scratch papers
Petroleum jelly
Metal Stick
Deep glass for molding
Tissue Paper
Craft Glue
Water
Small Paint Brush
Paint

Here’s how you will do it:

Choose a deep glass for shaping and always choose the form you like best. It will actually determine the final output of our project. Then, turn the glass upside down and smear it with petroleum jelly to keep the paper from sticking to the glass. Shred the old newspapers or scratch papers into small pieces and plunk them in the glass. Mix the craft glue with water to achieve a smoother texture. Next, glue the shredded to the outer side of the glass, keep the thickness consistent as much as possible.

Now, let the Paper Mache dry for an hour or two to let it hold and form. After, when the Paper Mache has hardened repeat the process for the second and third time. We are just making sure that we could attain a sturdy project. Let it dry for several days and when it has finally dried out take it off from the form.

We will now put the final touches for the molded craft. Apply the tissue pieces on the mold and brush it glue and water, again, let it dry. When it has finally dried up, paint the pen holder with a paint of your reference, let it dry and there you go, you have just created a functional art from scrap.

Now and then, people often buy jeans and just store them inside their closet once it doesn’t fit well anymore or they are already too outdated to be used. But it shouldn’t be that way. Old jeans can be used in so many ways that you actually can’t even imagine so don’t just let go of your old stuff just like that. It can eventually turn into some useful stuff like bags, wallets and even an apron to be used in your kitchen.

Aprons are being used inside the kitchen to protect your clothes from being wet and dirty. In this project, we will teach you on how to turn your old scrappy jeans into a new kitchen necessity and just perfect for your lively kitchen.

We will basically need an old pair of jeans, sewing machine, scissors, string or twine, foam and scrap pieces of fabric to get everything started.

Let’s first cut up the inseam of one pant leg and up to the back to open flat. We now have a piece to work with and never mind the measurements, as long as your okay with the length and it’s all good. Next, we will remove the excessive parts for us to have neat edges. Pin a 1/2 inch seam around the two sides of the cut jeans. Choose a nice color of thread and it around the sides you have pinned. Around the top seam, put a gap of about 2 inches for the ties.

After that, it’s time to add some appliqués. Use the scrap pieces of your old shirts; we will need red, white and yellow. We will now cut the different colored fabrics into different shapes and designs. We’ll be making a kitchen necessity so we need to come up with a design to fit the scene. First, a hotdog; using the red cloth, we will pattern it into a hotdog, make about two of them. Second, from your white and yellow fabric, we will be making an egg. Let’s stuff the egg yolk with used foams to make it more realistic. After which, sew them into your apron and we’re done.
